The then-38-year-old Tokyo-born Ebina came onto the\u00a0AGT<\/i>\u00a0scene in 2013 with a dubstep-esque performance that combined robot-style dance and martial arts. He joked with Judges that his passion for his Matrix-style movement evolved from hyping others with his running man.<\/p>\n

\u201cDancing is my passion,\u201d he told\u00a0AGT\u00a0<\/i>producers at the time. \u201cMy dream is to do my full-length, one-month show in Vegas. That\u2019s why I\u2019m here.\u201d<\/p>\n

One of the most memorable aspects of Ebina\u2019s\u00a0\u201cdance-ish\u201d Audition\u00a0was how he made it seem like his head became detached from his body and landed in his hands. He mimicked being shot at and losing a martial arts fight (sound effects and all), sometimes landing on his head or appearing to levitate from the ground.<\/p>\n

Ebina beat stand-up comic Taylor Williamson and singer Jimmy Rose for the Season 8 victory and went on to teach his indescribable skills to others. Ebina\u2019s appearance on\u00a0AGT\u00a0<\/i>Season 19, Episode 8, was a welcome return, and perhaps an expected one since he posted\u00a0a couple of super-fun photos\u00a0of him and Airfootworks in Los Angeles on his Instagram page.<\/p>\n

Airfootworks, a four-person group of one female and three males, arguably took what Ebina once showed the world\u00a0and upped the ante. Having\u00a0already made the Finals\u00a0on\u00a0Japan\u2019s Got Talent<\/i>, the seamlessly-synced group used the cube-shaped frame to make moves incorporating Lite Feet-style (like the dancing craze taking over New York City subways and TikTok), breakdancing, and acrobatics.<\/p>\n

They danced to Skrillex and Diplo\u2019s \u201cWhere Are \u00dc Now\u201d with Justin Bieber.<\/p>\n

A few moves comprised human flag positions, while another used his throat to hang freely from a bar (Kids, don\u2019t try this at home). Judge Klum was amazed at how they \u201cpiled in a lot of really cool elements\u201d into the routine.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was so creative, and so different, and so difficult, by the way,\u201d said\u00a0Judge Simon Cowell. \u201cYou have a great mentor. However, even if you\u2019ve got a great mentor, you still gotta be able to do what your mentor helps you to do. You did it immaculately.\u201d<\/p>\n

Even with Airfootworks\u2019 ongoing success, now with four yes votes from the Judges, it\u2019s not the only dance troupe under Ebina\u2019s tutelage to make it to\u00a0AGT<\/i>. In Season 16, he mentored the Japanese unicycling group\u00a0Unicircle Flow, whose\u00a0graceful and precise Acts\u00a0helped them advance all the way to the semifinals.<\/p>\n
