As is often the case in this champion-based spinoff, some fan favorites were sent packing, and I can&#8217;t help but think one advanced finalist\u00a0got pushed ahead\u00a0simply due to a\u00a0high profile cameo\u00a0in his act. Did Marc Spellman truly move forward on his own merits, or was it the Shin Lim cameo that did most of the heavy lifting?<\/p>\n<aside class=\"hawk-nest hawk-processed\" data-render-type=\"fte\" data-skip=\"dealsy\" data-widget-type=\"seasonal\" data-widget-id=\"de6bf6e6-f2f5-4e9d-a948-561b8d22cf34\" data-result=\"missing\">\n<div class=\"hawk-master-widget-hawk-main-wrapper\"><\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<p>To understand the complaint, readers really need to witness Marc Spellman&#8217;s act for\u00a0<em>America&#8217;s Got Talent: The Champions<\/em>. Check out the act, the cameo, and hop back down for why I think this advancement may not have been as deserving as some of the other acts in the night.<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-video\" data-nosnippet=\"\">\n<div class=\"video-aspect-box\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"SHIN LIM Is Magician X?! Marc Spelmann Blows Minds With Magic! - America&#039;s Got Talent: The Champions\" width=\"735\" height=\"413\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ImTStSYnh-o?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The fact that Shin Lim was hiding under the mask as Magician X was quite a surprise, and Marc Spellman&#8217;s appearance behind the judges as the actual Magician X certainly added to the fun in the act. With that said, it seems obvious that while the magic was impressive, Spellman was not on stage for the entirety of his act. The trick only worked if it was Shin Lim the whole time, so the former\u00a0<em>America&#8217;s Got Talent<\/em>\u00a0champion was essentially running the act.<\/p>\n<p>Marc Spellman was later voted through to the semi-finals by\u00a0<em>America&#8217;s Got Talent: The Champions<\/em>\u00a0super fans. While I can appreciate the act, the reveal, and the work required to pull it all off, these fans literally voted through a man who did not perform his act on stage. It feels like a shot to the gut to every performer who had to put themselves out there, while Spellman sat on the sidelines and waited for the curtain call to make himself known.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, it&#8217;s not like Shin Lim choreographed the trick or the illusion, so credit to Marc Spellman for developing a truly surprising magic act worthy of\u00a0<em>America&#8217;s Got Talent: The Champions<\/em>. It was a somewhat fitting homage considering Spellman performed under his actual name in Season 12 of\u00a0<em>Britains Got Talent<\/em>\u00a0and finished as a semi-finalist, and later returned in Season 13 under the then-mysterious Magician X. Spellman&#8217;s identity wasn&#8217;t known until the finals, when he unmasked himself to everyone during the final performance. He ended up finishing second, so it&#8217;s no surprise he&#8217;d bring back a similar gimmick for\u00a0<em>America&#8217;s Got Talent: The Champions<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>I can&#8217;t blame the super fans, as\u00a0<em>America&#8217;s Got Talent<\/em>\u00a0has to be an\u00a0incredibly difficult show to judge. It&#8217;s a competition where folks are frequently asked to compare apples to oranges, and sometimes the\u00a0sheer impressiveness of one act\u00a0can overshadow the talent and skill needed to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/television\/2477359\/americas-got-talent-watch-elderly-acrobats-honor-pixars-up-and-queen-in-crazy-performance\" data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" data-original-url=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/television\/2477359\/americas-got-talent-watch-elderly-acrobats-honor-pixars-up-and-queen-in-crazy-performance\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/television\/2477359\/americas-got-talent-watch-elderly-acrobats-honor-pixars-up-and-queen-in-crazy-performance\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"\/television\/2477359\/americas-got-talent-watch-elderly-acrobats-honor-pixars-up-and-queen-in-crazy-performance\" data-component-tracked=\"1\">pull off another<\/a>.
